Biography

Nick Pietsch is a Melbourne-based trombonist who keeps busy as both an in-demand session musician, and a member of a number of of Melbourne and Australia's most loved bands.

Nick grew up in Adelaide, where he completed his Bachelor of Music, specialising in Jazz Performance, from Adelaide University. Since moving to Melbourne, his versatility as a musician has seen him performing and recording with artists across a variety of genres, including traditional and contemporary jazz, Latin American, funk, big band, commercial, hip hop, soul and more. Artists he has worked with include Vance Joy, Angus Stone, Natalie Cole, The Black Sorrows, James Morrison, Wycliffe Gordon and Kate Ceberano.

He currently plays with Australian hip hop group Hilltop Hoods, performing sold-out festivals and headline performances around Australia. He is a member of Melbourne's answer to New Orleans brass band music, Horns of Leroy, and also performs with The Seven Ups and Sex on Toast.
