Junior Extension Course
Continuation from Junior Music
INTERMEDIATE CONTINUATION FROM JUNIOR MUSIC
In the Junior Extension Course, a large focus is placed on developing the technical and expressive piano performance skills of each individual student. The multifaceted approach enables children to develop skills they learn together as a group which include a range of ensemble, keyboard, and aural skills, as well as the motivation to learn repertoire pieces independently.
Children in the Junior Extension Course are eligible to sit for a Yamaha Grade Examination each year, where their piano performance, sight playing/reading, hearing (melody and harmony) and accompaniment/improvisation skills are formally assessed.
The Junior Extension Course not only enables children to learn how to play music written by others, but they are also taught the technical, analytical, and expressive skills required to be able to create their own music.
Students will also have the opportunity to perform and participate in Yamaha’s world famous Junior Original Concert program, with over 35,000 Yamaha students across the globe composing and preforming their own compositions to an audience.
