Returns Policy and Warranty Terms

If a product has been delivered to you and you have opened the original product packaging, then you have agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Returned goods must be in their original condition and include all accessories. Shipping and handling costs are not refundable.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Yamaha Music Australia reserves the right not to accept return of the product, except where the product is under manufacturer's warranty and you can provide evidence that the product is faulty.

The following terms and conditions relate to the warranty of Yamaha Audio Visual products purchased from Yamaha Online within Australia ONLY. For warranty conditions for Yamaha product purchased outside of Australia, please refer to the terms and conditions that accompanied your product or refer to your place of purchase.

1. Consumer product warranty

When you purchase a Yamaha product, you have the peace of mind in knowing that your product is covered by Yamaha's Standard Warranty set out below (“Standard Warranty”). The Standard Warranty is provided by Yamaha Music Australia Proprietary Limited (ABN 84 004 259 527), Level 1/99 Queensbridge Street, Southbank.

2. General Terms and Conditions

(a) Yamaha agrees to repair or replace, at Yamaha's cost, the Yamaha product, and any Yamaha accessory supplied with the product, purchased by you from Yamaha Online, or a Yamaha Authorised Dealer if the product does not perform in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications during the Warranty Term specified for the relevant product in the Table below, commencing from the date of purchase.

(b) Special Conditions apply under the Standard Warranty to some products as identified in Table 1.

(c) Only items returned in full, and in a warrantable state will be valid for a full refund/replacement. Products returned to Yamaha with missing accessories, or not including ‘free’, ‘bonus’ or other complimentary products sent out from Yamaha at the time of purchase will not qualify for a full refund. All returns will be assessed on a case by case basis.

3. Exclusions and Limitations

3.1 To the full extent permitted by law the Standard Warranty will not apply:

(a) if the product has not been installed, operated, maintained or used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions or specifications provided with the product.;

(b) if the factory-applied serial number has been altered or removed from the product.

(c) to damage, malfunction or failure resulting from alterations, accident, misuse, abuse, fire, liquid spillage, mis-adjustment of customer controls, use on an incorrect voltage, power surges and dips, thunderstorm activity, acts of God, voltage supply problems, tampering or unauthorised repairs by any persons, use of defective or incompatible accessories, the operation of a computer virus of any kind, exposure to abnormally corrosive conditions or entry by any insect, vermin or foreign object in the product.

(d) to damage arising during transportation, installation or while moving the product, or to any transportation costs of the product or any parts thereof to and from the owner, unless otherwise specified in these Warranty Terms;

(e) to any third-party software or hardware not contained in the product as originally configured by the manufacturer;

(f) to any failure, to the extent that the failure is not a failure of the product to perform in accordance with its specifications;

(g) to replacement or repair of any:

(i) consumables (including batteries); or

(ii) lost parts or accessories;

(h) to service of any product whilst it is outside Australia; or

(i) to any wear and tear if the product is used in commercial, industrial, educational or rental applications.

3.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law Yamaha will not be liable for any loss or damages in respect of:

(a) any damage to or alterations of:

(i) third party hardware or software; or

(ii) programs, data or information stored on any media or any part of the product, no matter how occurring;

(b) any loss of use, loss of profits or revenue; or

(c) any resulting indirect or consequential loss or damage.

4. Making a Warranty Claim

To make a valid claim under the Standard Warranty you must:

(a) contact the Yamaha Call Centre during business hours (AEST) on 1300 739 411 to register your claim and provide any details requested by Yamaha that enables Yamaha to assess the claim;

(b) provide or make the product available to Yamaha or a Yamaha Authorised Service Centre or as otherwise agreed with Yamaha. If you are required to return the product to a Yamaha Authorised Service Centre, Yamaha will provide details of the centre to you. To find the nearest Yamaha Authorised Service Centre, contact the Yamaha Call Centre on 1300 739 411 or use

(c) provide proof of purchase (e.g. bill of sale, invoice or purchase receipt).

5. Warranty Claims

(a) If you make a claim under this Standard Warranty and none of the exclusions set out above apply, Yamaha will, at its election, repair the product or replace the product with a refurbished product of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the products.

(b) Replacement of the product or a part does not extend or restart the Warranty Term.

(c) If the product presented for repair is capable of retaining user-generated data, you are advised that repair of the product may result in loss of the data.

(d) The product will be at the owner's risk whilst in transit to and from the Yamaha Authorised Service Centre, unless transported by Yamaha or its Authorised representatives.

(e) Yamaha will bear the expense of transport where transported by Yamaha or its Authorised representatives. Any other expense in respect of a Standard Warranty claim will be born by you.

(f) Yamaha and its Authorised Service Centres may seek reimbursement of any costs incurred by them if the product is found to be in good working order.

6. Consumer Guarantees

1.1 The benefits given to you in Yamaha's Standard Warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies you have under law in relation to the products to which Yamaha's Standard Warranty relates. Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
