Australian National Band Championship Returns in 2023

For the first time since 2019, the biggest event of the brass and concert band calendar returns in 2023 - the Australian National Band Championships! Over 75 bands and 2300 players will gather in Newcastle to perform and share their music over the Easter Weekend on April 7 - 10.

Yamaha is proudly supporting this wonderful event, providing adjudicators, percussion, professional development, and volunteers for the competition. Dr Jemima Bunn (Brolga Music) and Dr Joanne Heaton will both be adjudicating various sections throughout the weekend, providing their expertise and feedback for all the bands. Yamaha’s Education Outreach Officer, Dr Rob McWilliams, will also draw on his expertise to give feedback and professional development in a one-on-one environment.

The percussionists Performing at the Newcastle Town Hall will be performing on a professional set of Yamaha concert percussion, including a set of timpani, bass drum, chimes, glockenspiel, xylophone, marimba, and vibraphone.

In partnership with Yamaha’s Dealers that will be at Nationals, we will also be running a giveaway of brass, woodwind, and percussion accessories to help performers keep their instruments playing their best. The free accessories will include Valve Oil, Rotor Oil, Slide Lubricant, Cork Grease, Cleaning Paper, Powder Paper, and Drum Keys. Make sure to visit the trade hall during the Nationals to pick up your free accessory!

It is extremely exciting to be able to have such a big event back on this year, and Yamaha could not be more thrilled to be a part of it. If you are around at the National Band Championships, make sure to say hello to our Mat, Leigh and Daniel from our Band & Orchestral team who will be volunteering to make sure the weekend runs smoothly.
