Yamaha Announces New BB Bass Range

Throughout the BB's 40 year history, Yamaha has worked closely with some of the most prolific bassists in the business to craft that unmistakable BB sound - constantly evaluating their ideas and feedback to create the right sound for the music of the moment. The latest in Yamaha's BB series delivers the superb sound and build quality that BB is known for, in a smaller body with even better playability. Featuring custom-wound pickups that achieve higher output gain while retaining the classic BB voicing, the new line-up of BB basses are a testament to Yamaha’s commitment to musical excellence.

The new line-up has undergone a significant redesign with subtle contour changes and body weight reduction made out of consideration to playability and comfort, while still retaining the classic silhouette of the BB design. The new models also feature standard sized pickups for the first time in a BB, for more convenient customisation, and Maple fingerboard option on mid-range models. The 700 Series BB offers active/passive pickup switching for even greater sound flexibility.

For the bassist that won't settle for anything less than the best, the Japanese hand-crafted Pro lineup represents the pinnacle of everything the BB designers have sought to achieve over four decades. Carefully crafted one at a time by a select team of master artisans at Yamaha's headquarters in Japan, and featuring Yamaha's proprietary IRA (initial response acceleration) technology, the Pro BB offers a rich, organic tone and incomparable resonance and playability.
