DTS:X Release Date Confirmed

Yamaha today confirms the forthcoming release of firmware to enable the highly-anticipated DTS:X object-based technology for selected AVENTAGE and ’79 Series AV Receivers and the YSP-5600 Sound Bar. These firmware updates will be available in early March for the AV Receivers (including CX-A5100 Pre-amp) and later in 2016 for the YSP-5600 Sound Bar.

The CX-A5100, RX-A3050, RX-A2050, RX-A1050, RX-V3079, RX-V2079, and RX-V1079 all currently support Dolby Atmos and soon will add DTS:X for next-generation home cinema.

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are both object-based surround formats that place and move sounds freely in a three-dimensions – including overhead. These new formats are designed to elevate the user’s cinematic experience to a heightened level of realism.

With the CX-A5100, Yamaha’s proprietary CINEMA DSP technology is able to be applied to both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X during playback immersing audiences in an unrivalled soundscape.

Already the world’s first sound bar with Dolby Atmos, the YSP-5600 will now also hold the title as the world’s first Sound Bar with DTS:X technology. With this Sound Bar users can enjoy immersive 3D sound reproduction equivalent to a 7.1.2 channel system. Yamaha is able to realise the enveloping sound field by using its Digital Sound Projector technology. The YSP-5600 recreates the placement of all speakers using ‘beams’ of sound that reflect off surrounding walls and now off the ceiling before returning to the listener’s position. This innovative sound system enables users to enjoy a breathtaking three-dimensional sound experience from a single sound bar.

DTS:X will available by firmware update on the following models:

AVENTAGE Separate Components: CX-A5100

AVENTAGE AV Receivers: RX-V3050, RX-A2050, RX-A1050

’79 Series AV Receivers: RX-V3079, RX-V2079, RX-V1079

Sound Bars: YSP-5600

About DTS:X

DTS:X is an object-based, multi-dimensional audio technology from DTS. Unbound from channels, DTS:X conveys the fluid movement of sound to create an incredibly rich, realistic and immersive soundscape - in front of, behind, beside and above the audience - more accurately than ever before. DTS:X offers the ability to automatically adapt the audio to the speaker layout that best fits the space, from a television’s built-in speakers to a home surround theater system to a dozen or more speakers in a commercial cinema.
