Prestigious Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club chooses Yamaha Drums.
Yamaha Drums UK are pleased to announce that Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club have chosen Yamaha as their House Drums for their prestigious venue.
Ronnie Scott’s is one of the world’s most famous jazz clubs attracting full to bursting audiences practically every night. Since the early days of Sarah Vaughn, Count Basie and Miles Davis, the club continues to present the biggest names in jazz including Wynton Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson and Kurt Elling, all of whom shun the concert halls in favor of the intimate and welcoming environs of the club. Ronnie Scott’s has become the hang for London’s young hipsters and the place for music fans of all ages seeking jazz royalty in the world’s most stylish famous jazz club.
Yamaha’s award winning Absolute Hybrid Series are the drums of choice, Yamaha pioneered the construction of hybrid acoustic drum shells when it introduced its flagship PHX Series. As the name implies, the Absolute Hybrid Maple drum set combines a core ply of harder Wenge wood with outer plies of North American maple. This unique configuration produces a drum with an unusually expressive tone and a wide dynamic range that faithfully reproduces every nuance of a player’s approach, perfect for the Ronnie Scott’s venue.
The agreement followed the successful Yamaha Drums event at Ronnie Scott’s in November 2014, celebrating the legendary Dave Weckl’s 30th year with Yamaha Drums. It was here that the new series of drums were heard, and the glowing comments afterwards completed the deal. The new Yamaha Drums will also share the stage with a Yamaha CF6 Grand Piano, an existing relationship that has been in place for nearly a decade.
Gavin Thomas, Yamaha UK Drums Product Marketing Manager explained. ‘It has been a personal ambition of mine to work with the amazing Ronnie Scott’s venue exclusively. I want the world’s best Drummers to experience our new drums personally and this new relationship will enhance that opportunity.'
‘We at Ronnie’s are really pleased to be able to extend our relationship with Yamaha into the world of percussion. To have the club kitted out with three of these superb drum kits is a bonus for us and all the visiting musicians who will benefit from being able to use this A-star equipment. With the backup that Yamaha provide regarding service and parts we hope and expect this is the start of a beautiful relationship.’ Simon Cooke Managing Director, Ronnie Scott’s.
