QL and R-series selected for Lots of Watts Australia’s inventory
Lots of Watts Australia is one of Sydney’s largest commercial audio equipment sales and hire companies servicing the whole of Australia. This month saw the forward-thinking organisation not only be awarded the first QL Certified Dealer status in Australia but also increase their hire inventory with multiple QL-series consoles and an impressive array of R-series I/O interfaces.
Lots of Watts Australia offers solutions across a broad range of services including commercial audio sales and hire, architectural lighting control and commercial energy management solutions, outside broadcast capabilities and production crew hire. Their Sydney-based office houses hire inventory and the production, sales and support teams.
When it became time to upgrade their mixing console inventory, a combination of QL-series digital mixing consoles and R-series I/O interfaces was selected. Of the recent upgrade, Simon Richardson – Lots of Watts Australia’s General Manager – says “We have trusted Yamaha consoles for years in our Hire and Production department. Our recent purchase of QL1’s and QL5’s keeps Lots of Watts Australia’s audio mixing foundation firmly set with Yamaha. This new QL series provides both our installation and production customers a clear upgrade path and outstanding value for money ensuring we are meeting the market from both a price and performance perspective.“
The addition of R-series I/O interfaces affords the Lots of Watts Australia team a great deal of flexibility. QL consoles can be deployed on their own or R-series racks can be added to expand the I/O configuration. Recent use-cases have also seen Ri8-D and Ro8-D configured without a console for use as digital snakes. Importantly, due to the extremely busy hire schedule, the consoles and I/O options need to be re-configured and tested to very tight deadlines.
All of this is made possible due to on-board Dante digital audio networking. Richardson adds “The inclusion of native Dante is ideal for our hire and production customers too as we were among the first movers and have invested in significant Dante infrastructure. Our production team love the power and simplicity of set-up, reduction in cabling overhead and ease of use.”
A key part of the Lots of Watts Australia operation is its technical crew and their knowledge and experience played an important role in Yamaha Music Australia awarding them Certified QL Dealer status.
