Yamaha debuts first AV receiver with Digital Radio in Australia
RX-V500D has radio fans covered
Yamaha’s recently-launched ’75 Series brandishes a number of new features to get excited about - and perhaps none more so significant than the introduction of digital radio on the RX-V500D.
With a recommended retail price (RRP) of $799, the RX-V500D is currently the only model in the ’75 Series to boast the added functionality yet its balance of cost-for-features positions the receiver as the third most affordable in the range. This enables the growing number of Australians adopting the technology to enjoy the benefits of digital radio as it is rolled out across the country.
The RX-V500D marks the first time an AV receiver with digital radio on-board has been widely available in the Australian market. CD-quality sound coupled with the ability to communicate additional information such as the station name, song and artist information, and even the weather introduces a new level of engagement when it comes to listening to the radio.
“We’re answering the call from a lot of retailers and customers out there who have been keen to see the introduction of digital radio on our receivers,” explained Justin d’Offay - Product Manager for Yamaha Music Australia’s AV Division. “The popularity of digital radio in Australia is unmistakeable and we hope to service this market with the RX-V500D, which represents the first time digital radio has been integrated into an AV receiver in Australia.”
Further, users are able to tune into their favourite radio station whether it be digital radio (DAB+), one of thousands of Internet radio stations from around the world, or on the traditional FM band.
In addition to its ensemble of radio services, the RX-V500D delivers ‘smart’ home functionality with network features including intuitive operation via Yamaha’s acclaimed AV Controller app for iOS and Android devices, and high-resolution 192 kHz/24-bit audio streaming from network sources such as computers and NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices throughout the home. Due to the added functionality of digital radio, Pandora® internet radio is not available on the RX-V500D.
For Android users, the RX-V500D features a MHL-capable (Mobile High-Definition Link) HDMI port bringing added versatility to all models across the ’75 Series excluding the entry-level RX-V375. The connection provides access to Full HD content directly from compatible devices, offering the same convenience enjoyed previously by iDevice users being able to connect directly to the AV receiver.
Adding to its high-end features, a discrete amplifier configuration and 192 kHz/24-bit Burr-Brown DACs for each of its 5 channels ensure the RX-V500D is not only touted for its functionality but its premium performance as well. For video, Ultra HD is supported with pass-through of the signal enabling audiences to enjoy the format when source content becomes available.
The RX-V500D is available now with a recommended retail price (RRP) of $799. For more information on Yamaha’s range of AV receivers and home theatre packages, call 1300 739 411.
