Tanya George

Tanya George is a multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter and performer hailing from Melbourne. Whether playing on Australia’s festival circuit or selling out her own headline shows, Tanya has captivated audiences with her musical artistry, incredible 4.5 octave vocal range and humble stage presence.

A regular on the Australian festival circuit, Tanya has performed on stages at the St Kilda Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Womadelaide, and Queenscliff Music Festival.

After releasing her first solo EP Sonder (2018) Tanya followed up with her sophomore EP, Normality (2020), produced by Jimmy Alexander. The album received high praise for her song writing and vocal performance, particularly on the title track ‘Normality’ which rose to the top of the Triple J Unearthed charts. The EP earned Tanya a feature in Rolling Stone Australia and the title of the 2020 Alex Legg Memorial Foundation Scholarship Award recipient. As part of the Melbourne Music Week and Metro Tunnel Project ‘Home Made Sound’ initiative, Tanya produced a stand-alone single, ‘Welcome’ earlier this year, to similar success.

Her latest single 'Can't Do Anything Right' explores the socially systemic hypocrisy behind expectations and the clear double standards between male and female counterparts. “It’s about the frustrations of not being able to live up to anyone’s expectations” she explains.

Tanya’s blind audition on Season 10 of The Voice Australia saw all 4 coaches turn their chairs within the first few moments of her rendition of ‘You’ve Got The Love’. Her performances wowed the coaches and audiences with her incredible vocal prowess making it through to the top 5 on Team Rita and top 20 overall.

Tanya is looking forward to returning to playing live shows and working on new music planned for release in 2022.
