YAMAHA PIANO TEACHER AWARD: BREAKOUT TERMS AND CONDITIONS 2023

GENERAL

  1. The promoter is: Yamaha Music Australia Pty Ltd (YMA), whose registered office is at 80 Market St, South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
  2. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to apply for this Award.
  3. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
  4. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Award and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation, any other event outside of the promoter's control or for any reason.
  5. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this Award.
  6. By entering a submission for this Award, an entrant indicates their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  7. The Award and these terms and conditions are governed by Australian law, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Australia's courts.
  8. Submitting a nomination to the Award will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  9. Submitting an application to the Award will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  10. Receiving a nomination only does not enter you for the award. Both a nomination and submission/acceptance of the award needs to be received to deem you entered.
  11. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter, or any other Social Network. You are providing your information to Yamaha Music Australia and their Selection Panel and not to any other party. Who Can Enter

  1. Entry is open to all Australian Residents over the age of 18 except employees and immediate families of the Promoter and their associated companies and agencies (this includes teachers employed to deliver lessons as part of Yamaha Music Education). Immediate family includes the following: spouse, ex-spouse, defacto spouse, child or step child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step parent, grandparent, step grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step brother, step sister or first cousin.
  2. Entry is open to Piano teachers only as defined by the definition below.
  3. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older as at the date of entry in order to be eligible to enter the competition.
  4. The Promoter reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity or proof of registration ownership in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification, residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.

How To Enter

  1. To be eligible to apply for the award, a Piano teacher must be nominated by either someone else or themselves. An individual can nominate themselves for the award.
  2. Nominations must be received between 1 December, 2023, and 29 February, 2024, via this form.
  3. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older as at the date of entry in order to be eligible to enter the competition.
  4. Nominations can only be for Piano teachers' that engage in the delivery of piano lessons in Australia only.
  5. Applications must be received between 1 December, 2023, and 29 February, 2024, via this form.
  6. Winners will be notified by 1 April, 2024.
  7. Applicants must make themselves available for an interview between 1 March, 2024 and 31 March 2024, by YMA if requested and identified as a top 20 applicant. If the applicant is not available, they will no longer be eligible to receive the Award.
  8. The recipient teacher will be chosen by YMA according to the Selection Panel selection criteria.

Prize On Offer

  1. A maximum of ten (10) Award recipients will be chosen. YMA will provide:
    1. Return flight in economy class from recipient's closest capital city to Melbourne, Victoria in July 2024.
      1. Any costs incurred from travelling to the airport or changes post booking, such as name changes are the recipient's responsibility to pay. The recipient is responsible for getting to any departure points on time for security checks and check in procedures.
      2. The Promoter reserves the right for the winner to be required to pay for their return flight if they choose to return before the trip period has elapsed or outside of the dates booked.
      3. The prize does not include travel insurance, passports, meals/beverages, visas or any applicable taxes.
      4. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prize is not transferable. The flights are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute flights with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
      5. The Promoter accepts no liability for any cancellations or delays experienced by the airline.
    2. One-nights Accommodation
      1. The promoter will provide one-nights' accommodation at a hotel of the promoters choosing in July 2024.
      2. For winners in locations where flights aren't either convenient or available, a second nights' accommodation will be offered. This is of discretion of the promoter.
      3. If the winning applicant chooses to source alternate accommodation, the prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prize is not transferable.
      4. A requirement to present your credit card when checking-in to accommodation will be requested and is the sole responsibility of the applicant.
      5. The promoter is not responsible for damage, breakages, theft, and losses that may occur during the applicants stay.
      6. The applicant is responsible to meet the terms and conditions as set by the lodging vendor and as such, the promoter is not responsible for associated costs and liabilities if the applicant fails to comply (this may include but not limited to late check-out, upgrade of room, room-service, mini-bar and/or other services connected to room outside rate-per-night.)
    3. Admission to Piano Teacher Award Event.
    4. Award dinner to take place in July 2024 in Melbourne, Victoria.
  2. No alternative to the Award will be offered. The Award amount is not transferable.
  3. Fraudulent or misleading information in the application will deem the Piano teacher disqualified from the Award. If the recipient is found to have misled YMA, they will be charged the amounts as agreed by the award.

How Winners Will Be Selected

  1. The recipient will be decided by the Selection Panel at their discretion by assessing the application against the selection criteria. The Selection Panel selection process will be final and confidential. No correspondence will be entered into about the decision.
  2. Applicants must make themselves available for an interview between 1 March, 2024 and 31 March 2024, by YMA if requested and identified as a top 20 applicant. If the applicant is not available, they will no longer be eligible to receive the Award.
  3. The recipient will allow YMA to use their name as Award's recipient in promotion, such as (including but not limited to) print, digital, and video marketing.

DEFINITIONS

Selection Panel

The YMA appointment group who will decide which applicant will be the recipient. This panel will include at least one independent member who is not employed by YMA.

Piano Teacher

A 'Piano teacher' is by definition an individual who provides services in the form of piano instruction and teaches at least 3 students at any one time. The validity of any piano teacher who applies for this Award may be requested by YMA. This can be in the form of written/verbal/website references, State-based Music Teacher Association registration and/or recognised pedagogical training (either domestically or overseas).

SELECTION CRITERIA

In the Selection Panel opinion, the applicants will be evaluated on their devotion, creativity and commitment to teaching the piano, and how an opportunity for enriching their studio will contribute to their students' development. The applicant's willingness to engage in further professional development will also be taken into consideration.

The selection panel will take into account the following criteria:

  1. Quality of commitment from the teacher;
  2. Demonstration of teacher's interest in teaching the piano and what this means to them;
  3. Willingness to partake in professional development;
  4. Teacher initiative in self-directed learning, community involvement and creative music making opportunities; and
  5. Support of their music community. This will be in the form of the nomination submission.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The Award is on offer to any individual engaged in teaching piano in 2023-2024. Anyone can nominate a teacher for the award, including themselves. All nominations must be submitted at au.yamaha.com and must be submitted on or before 29 February 2024.

Nomination Process

  1. Their contact details (email and phone number)
  2. Their nominees First name, last name, postcode and email address
  3. Submission of answer to the question 'Why do you believe they should be selected for the Yamaha Piano Teacher Award: Breakout.
  4. Once a person nominates a teacher for the award, the teacher will be notified and must accept this by the closing date. The nominee will have to supply some additional information, addressing the selection criteria to be assessed by the selection panel.

Application Process

Nominees will need to provide the following via the embedded emailed form sent ot them:

  1. Their contact details (email and phone number)
  2. Submission of answers addressing Selection Criteria.
  3. An optional submission from a third-party addressing the selection criteria and/or supporting your application for the award.
  4. Any other relevant material in support of the application.
  5. 'Top 10' will be chosen from this and assessed by a panel led by Nathan Rippon from Yamaha Music Australia and including an independent member of the music community.
