Applications Open for Yamaha’s Great Start Grant 2022
Yamaha Music Australia is giving back to teachers and students with the annual Great Start Grant – a nationwide initiative that will see one school be awarded $50,000 worth of musical instruments and specialised music training.
2022 marks the sixth year of the Great Start Grant. Each year, Yamaha Music Australia seeks to find an Australian school with a passion and drive to promote quality music education but lacking the equipment to get off to a great start. With group music-making activity proven to improve social connections, emotional well-being and academic performance, the Great Start Grant can significantly impact students’ lives and achievement.
The winner of the Great Start Grant will receive:
- $50,000 worth of Yamaha instruments to start a concert band program.
- Training from Yamaha Music Australia’s Education Outreach Clinician Prof. Rob McWilliams.
Schools wishing to apply must apply using the online application form. Application requirements include submitting letters from the school principal, a relevant full-time teacher and a parent whose child is currently attending the school.
Applications will be selected and assessed by a panel comprised of Yamaha staff Bodhi Scott-Jones, Leigh Olsson and Prof. Rob McWilliams as well as an independent member of the music education community. In addition to the Great Start Grant winner, two further finalist schools will be awarded with $2,000 worth of Yamaha products.
Please note, we have extended the closing date for applications
Applications open 27th January – 1st April 2022 (extended).
