Accompaniment (Grade 10-8)
The objective of this subject is to evaluate abilities to (1) recognize the key and provide chords to a given melody and (2) play an appropriate accompaniment that suits the melody. This subject connects to the “Improvisation” of Grade 7,6.
Improvisation (Grade 7-6)
The objective of this subject is to evaluate the candidate’s abilities to (1) provide an accompaniment that suits the melody and (2) make variations as an entire piece. The "Accompaniment" of Grades 10-8 is connected to this "Improvisation" subject.

The objective of this subject is to evaluate the candidate's ability to play melodies and harmonies by-ear.

Fundamental Skills Survey
Singing
Students are required to sing one of the songs included in `PRIMARY' chosen from Lyric Singing or the Repertoire pieces, with the lyrics or by note names 'Do, Re, Mi’.
Listening (Melody by ear singing)
Students are required to sing or play the notes that the examiner plays on the piano, to confirm the student's listening ability.
Listening (Harmony by ear playing or singing)
Students are required to sing or play the notes that the examiner plays on the piano, to confirm the student's listening ability.
Playing
Student are required to play two Repertoire pieces selected from the pieces in "Primary 3", "Primary 4", "Workbook 3" and "Workbook 4", The student may choose the Piano or Electone to play them.
Reading
Students are required to sing at sight with the pitch or read at sight a few bars from the score of the pieces the student played for Free Selection to assess the student's Reading ability.
Creating
Students are required to play the accompaniment to the melody "The Dove" in "Primary 4".
