Xani Kolac
Xani Kolac is a Naarm/Melbourne-based contemporary violinist and singer/songwriter.
Awarded Best Musician at the 2022 Music Victoria Awards, Xani approaches music making from diverse musical experiences and training, venturing into the spaces between rock, jazz, electronic, folk and dance/pop.

Xani has collaborated with the likes of Jens Lekman, Jess Hitchcock, Tim Rogers, Paul Grabowsky, Andrea Keller, Eddie Perfect, as well as in live theatre at Melbourne Theatre Company. Xani is a sought-after contemporary violinist for musicals such as ‘Come From Away’, ‘Girl From the North Country’ and ‘Groundhog Day’ by Tim Minchin.
An advocate for women and gender-diverse instrumentalists, Xani had the idea for ‘Stand By Your Woman’ presented at Arts Centre Melbourne which featured fourteen women and gender diverse instrumentalists on stage performing with the likes of Kate Ceberano, Kate Miller-Heidke, Mo’ju, Jen Cloher and Thndo.
As a solo artist, Xani is passionate about pushing the boundaries of violin playing in contemporary music spaces, using electronic effect pedals and live looping, extended techniques and improvisation to create energetic and memorable live performances and recordings.
Xani was selected to showcase at Classical:NEXT in Berlin in 2024 and has also performed on ABCs ‘Spicks and Specks’ and SBSs ‘RocKwiz’ with Kav Temperley and Vicki and Linda Bull.
