Streaming content from your iOS or Android device to your Yamaha recveiver using 'Music Play'
Since its introduction, Yamaha’s AV Controller app has transformed countless iOS and Android devices into wireless remote controls for Yamaha’s network receivers.
Version 2.0 of the app further enhances network functionality by enabling users to wirelessly stream music from a mobile device to the AV receiver – all without having to utilise a dock. When an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Android device is connected to the same network as the Yamaha receiver, the AV Controller app pushes music directly from the phone or tablet to the receiver.
‘Music Play’, the name given to this new feature, expands the available music content made accessible over a network (PC, Mac, NAS, Internet Radio) to now include content from portable devices as well.
Operation is seamless and intuitive with users able to navigate content on their phone by album, artist, playlist, etc. When a song has been selected, the receiver turns on automatically and begins playback with album artwork able to be shown on any display devices connected to the receiver. Additionally, Music Play also allows the creation of playlists for Android devices.
The update is available to both iOS and Android users and does not require any firmware updates to the receiver. What’s more, Music Play is backwards compatible to Yamaha’s previous line-up of ’67 Series of receivers with Ethernet connectivity.
Music Play is available now as a free update for the AV Controller app, from the App Store and Android Market.
