Takiaya Reed is a world renowned classical saxophonist and member of the heavy neoclassical decolonial doom band Divide and Dissolve. She was first introduced to music and the saxophone by her father. Takiaya was born in Turtle Island/US and is currently based in Narrm/Melbourne Australia. Takiaya has scored films, played in multiple bands and performed solo throughout Australia and internationally. She has played alongside Sylvie Nehil in Divide and Dissolve at music festivals and art exhibitions around the world. Takiaya’s unique sound resonates across musical genres as evidenced by the wide variety of people who engage with her performances. Divide and Dissolve cross neoclassical music with doom metal, resulting in a distinct and inimitable sound. Her music has been described as “shattering conventions” and “transgressive”. She has been featured in The Fader, CVLT Nation, Paper, Vice. Bandcamp Daily, Invisible Oranges, and Monster Children.
