Australia’s entry model for the AVENTAGE range, the RX-A1000 combines the premium performance inherent in the range at an affordable price point.

With a plethora of entertainment sources available today, connectivity is paramount. The RX-A1000 combines Ethernet connectivity for sources such as Internet radio and PC music streaming, while also allowing control via the web on devices such as an iPhone, along with premium audio and video performance.

iPod/iPhone Compatible

The RX-A1000 comes with Yamaha’s YDS-12 iPod/iPhone dock. This allows the navigation and playback of music, movies and photos from an iPod or iPhone through the receiver. Album artwork is also displayed when playing music.

Burr Brown DACs

Burr Brown DACs have been at the forefront of Digital to Analogue Conversion technology since its beginnings in 1956. All digital audio signals (CDs, iPod, DTS-HD, Dolby True-HD, etc) need to be converted from their original digital format to an analogue format that can be amplified through to the speakers. The Burr-Brown DACs used in the RX-A1000 have been specifically chosen for premium performance.

Web Browser Control

The in-built web browser on each AVENTAGE receiver allows control of the receiver from anywhere in the house. With the RX-A1000, any device (iPhone, laptop, Blackberry, etc) with a web browser that is connected to your local area network (LAN) has the ability to control all major functions of your receiver. It almost makes other remote controls obsolete!

Low Jitter

Jitter over HDMI can add colouration to the audio signal. To help reduce this colouration the RX-A1000 employs low jitter phase locked loop (PLL) circuitry. The PLL circuitry helps synchronise the audio path between the source (Blu-ray player) and the receiver to minimise interference and ensure accurate reproduction of the original material.

Expandable to 7.2 + bi-amp

Home theatre enthusiasts demand customisation for their receivers. Yamaha’s new AVENTAGE range provides the ability to completely customise a home theatre setup. The RX-A1000 provides the ability to use a secondary amplifier to power the rear speakers while allowing the user to bi-amp the front speakers using the RX-A1000.

3D CINEMA DSP

Yamaha’s renowned 3D CINEMA DSP technology uses front presence speakers to add height and depth to the front sound stage, making a small theatre room feel like a large concert hall. This is extremely beneficial when watching concerts or other live performances to provide the feeling of being at the performance. It is also beneficial to provide better overhead localisation of sounds.

Zone 2 Capability

The RX-A1000 has a powered second Zone with component video out. This means it can share a second audio and video source to another room, with full volume and tone control, while still providing video and 5.2 channel audio in the main zone, or 7.2 through the use of an additional amplifier.

YPAO Multipoint

Yamaha’s YPAO technology can be found on all Yamaha receivers and is regarded as one of the best auto calibration technologies on the market. The AVENTAGE range of receivers take the YPAO calibration a step further by incorporating the ability to create a larger ‘sweet spot’. By taking measurements at eight different points in a room the RX-A1000 ensures everyone in the room can enjoy professionally calibrated audio.

Dolby TrueHD

Dolby TrueHD is an advanced lossless audio technology developed for high-definition disc-based media including Blu-ray Disc. Selected as an optional audio standard for Blu-ray Disc, this technology delivers sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, offering a high-definition home theater experience. Supporting bitrates up to 18.0 Mbps, Dolby TrueHD can carry up to 8 discrete channels of 24-bit/96 kHz audio simultaneously. Dolby TrueHD also remains fully compatible with the existing multichannel audio systems and retains the metadata capability of Dolby Digital, allowing dialog normalization and dynamic range control.

HDMI Zone B

The second HDMI output on all AVENTAGE receivers allows it to deliver video and 2-channel audio to second high definition TV (Zone B), while the monitor in the main home theatre system (main Zone) displays the same image with up to 7.2, 9.2, or 11.2 channels of audio, depending on the receiver being used.

Internet Radio

Along with a number of other great features, the Ethernet connection on each AVENTAGE receiver gives the user access to over 2,000 internet radio stations on the vTuner database. These include most local AM, FM and Digital Radio stations, as well as local and overseas internet only content. Using the vTuner website users can bookmark and store their favourite stations for further convenience.

Lossless Audio over Network

With storage capacity growing almost exponentially, many people are storing uncompressed audio on their computer or NAS storage device. Therefore the ability to stream this uncompressed audio is becoming more important. AVENTAGE receivers all support FLAC 96/24 and WAV files, both common formats of storing uncompressed audio. This allows the streaming of CD quality sound from a PC or NAS storage device.

SCENE – A NEW LEVEL OF OPERATING EASE

With most AV components, watching or listening to what you want requires a number of steps. You have to turn on the AV component, turn on another component like a DVD player, select the source, select the surround mode and then press play. But with Yamaha’s SCENE feature all you need to do is press one button. Both components turn on, the correct DSP setting is made, and play begins. This SCENE function allows you to change input sources and sound field programmes with one button. Four SCENE buttons are available for different usages, such as playing movies or music.

This unit allows you to configure a multi-zone audio system. The Zone2 feature allows you to set this unit to reproduce separate input sources in the main zone and the second zone (Zone2). You can control this unit from the second zone using the supplied remote control.

3D ARC

The HDMI connections on all AVENTAGE receivers are both 3D and ARC (Audio Return Channel) compatible. 3D support provides the ability to pass a 3D signal from a 3D Blu-Ray player, such as the BD-A1000, to a TV. The ARC allows audio to be returned to the receiver from the TV via HDMI, removing the need for another digital audio cable.

YPAO Automatic System Calibration

Yamaha’s YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything!
