Connectivity, networking and multi‐zone versatility with the RX‐A820

The third instalment of AVENTAGE Series presents a range marked by state-of-the-art design, sophisticated versatility and uncompromising construction. High-end performance fuses with innovative functionality in a line of receivers that push the boundaries of home entertainment.

Series III continues to redefine integrated home entertainment, improving on a benchmark set by the previous AVENTAGE Series. The second receiver in the range, the RX-A820 combines premium AVENTAGE sound tuning with the latest features to meet today’s growing entertainment needs.

All AVENTAGE receivers come with a YWA-10 wireless network adaptor this year, providing seamless connection to a home network. Powered via USB, the YWA-10 has two Ethernet ports allowing a Yamaha network receiver and Blu-ray player to access the benefits of network connectivity wirelessly.

With 100W per channel (8 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 0.09% THD), the RX-A820 delivers premium 7.2 channel home theatre performance, is capable of providing audio to a second independent area (Zone 2) and can simultaneously stream the main zone’s audio/video source to a second area via HDMI (Zone B).

In addition to eight HDMI inputs, dual HDMI outputs enable two display devices to be connected to the receiver at the same time. With a television and projector connected, for example, the need to physically change HDMI connections on the back of the receiver is eliminated when switching between display devices. Further, the emerging high-definition 4K video standard is supported with 4K pass-through. The RX-A820 is also capable of 4K upscaling which presents standard and Full HD content as 4K video, achieving unprecedented picture quality four times that of 1080p.

Beyond the theatre room, the RX-A820 opens the door to a world of home entertainment possibilities when connected to a home network. New to AVENTAGE Series III, AirPlay enables wireless streaming of audio directly from AirPlay‐enabled apps on iOS devices or iTunes on Mac or PC. Alternatively, users are able to unlock lossless FLAC and WAV files stored on a PC, Mac or Network Attached Storage (NAS) device and stream them to the home theatre system thanks to DLNA support, or can access thousands of Internet radio stations from around the world through the extensive vTuner database.

The RX-A820 supports Yamaha’s AV Controller app, transforming iOS and Android devices into wireless remote controls. Utilising an instinctively familiar interface, the AV Controller app enables users to intuitively navigate the receiver’s functions while also providing an enhanced level of customisation.

Owners of iOS devices are also able to seamlessly integrate their devices via direct digital connection utilising a USB port conveniently located on the front of the RX-A820. The result is superior sound quality through the home theatre system, control via the receiver’s remote control and communication of metadata including song and artist information and album artwork.

YPAO (Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimiser) provides automated calibration of the home theatre system. Placed in the primary listening position, the supplied YPAO microphone analyses the number and handling capacity of connected speakers, room acoustics, as well as a range of other characteristics to achieve the optimal listening environment. The YPAO multipoint system available on the RX-A820 measures up to eight listening positions during the calibration process, ensuring optimised audio for larger audiences. In addition, Reflected Sound Control (R.S.C.) measures the reflections from nearby hard surfaces and negates the impact of these reflections on the direct signal.

The RX-A820 comes with a YWA-10 wireless network adaptor, 4 year warranty with 12 month replacement warranty and is available now with a recommended retail price of $1,499.
